Southern Utah University

Beginning as a branch of Utah State's teacher training college, Southern Utah University in Cedar City has evolved into a fully accredited University offering graduate, baccalaureate, associate and technical programs. For over 110 years, Southern Utah University as been a main influence in the development of Cedar City and the surrounding southern Utah area.

When Southern Utah University was first founded in 1898, tremendous effort was put forth by the then 1,500 citizens who made up the town, to keep the school in their town. That same dedication has led the City to now be the home of one of the most vibrant, growing educational institutions in the Western United States.

Southern Utah University boasts of nearly 7,000 student and offers associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees through five academic colleges: Business, Technology and Communication; Education; Humanities and Social Sciences; Performing and Visual Arts; and Science.

Each student at SUU has a well-rounded experience typified by relatively small class sizes, a more personalized teaching environment, and plentiful opportunities to participate in extracurricular programs, a faculty commitment to teaching and caring, and exceptional options for outdoor recreation activities. A full student activity program includes a successful and growing NCAA Division I men's and women's athletics program and a myriad of clubs and organizations. A beautiful campus is complemented by the surrounding beauty of mountains and desert landscape dotted by national parks, monuments, and recreation areas.
