Mammoth Cave

Located within the Dixie National Forest, Mammoth Cave is the site of one of the largest lava tubes in all of Utah. Explore over 2,200 ft. of passageways for an experience you will never forget. Lava tubes such as the one in Mammoth Cave were formed when cooling lava and flowing water carved out the rock.

Mammoth Cave in Utah is about a quarter of a mile long and very safe for exploration if you take the proper precautions. Come with the right clothing and shoes for climbing down to the cave's entrance. Once you get inside the cave there are four caverns, one of which goes in a westerly direction. This tunnel is the largest, however, depending on the time of year parts of the cave are blocked off so that habitat and wildlife can thrive in their natural environment.

If you're interested in camping in the area, Duck Creek Campground has 83 units for camping with RV and tent sites, rest rooms, a dump station, fire rings and picnic tables. If you're interested in camping with a group, four groups sites are available on the premises with several units available with advanced reservation. Camping here is a great experience if you love enjoying the great outdoors.
