Parowan Historic Museums

There are several Historic Museums in Parowan, Utah that lead the visitor through the rich history of the town and the region. If you choose to go on a Parowan historical tour, you'll get to see the Jesse N. Smith Home Museum, Rock Church Museum, Dr. Priddy Meeks Cabin Museum, and Parowan Heritage Park.

One of several historic museums in Parowan, the Jesse N. Smith Home Museum was built by Jesse Smith out of local red adobe brick in 1857. The Smith family lived in this home until 1880, at which time Jesse left to lead a group of pioneers to Arizona. Restored in the 1970s, this home was transformed into a museum, and is a great place to visit with your family. The museum is located at 35 West 100 South.

The Rock Church Museum is the perfect destination for the history buff, located in the town square just across the street from the Jesse Smith Museum, between Center and 100 South on Main Street. Completed in 1867, this church is a large part of Parowan's history – it was restored in the 1940s.

The Dr. Priddy Meeks Cabin Museum was built in 1865 by Dr. Meeks, the first doctor to lay down roots in southern Utah. This museum is located north of Center St. on 400 West.

Parowan Heritage Park came to fruition in 1996, and occupies the famous site where Parley P. Pratt and his companions camped in 1850 while they searched for potential plots for pioneer settlements. The flagpole that the men dedicated to the spot is still standing. Location: 300 S. Main Street.
