Paunsaugunt Western Wildlife Museum

The Paunsaugunt Western Wildlife Museum in Panguitch Utah was created to help spread knowledge to the general public about the wildlife and nature of the region, through art and history exhibits, and to inform people about conservation efforts. Wildlife is a critical part of Utah, which is what makes this museum so important.

A museum with a mandate to help people appreciate the varied wildlife in the world and disseminate information to visitors regarding all the issues related to the natural world, the Paunsaugunt Western Wildlife Museum is an educational experience perfect for families and curious travelers alike.

Located in Panguitch Utah, within the Paunsaugunt Plateau, the museum is also concerned with informing the public about management and conservation of wildlife in the area. The Piute Indians called this part of Utah the "Home of the Beaver," so it's quite fitting that a wildlife and history museum is located here.

The museum first opened in 1995 as a result of a partnership between Robert Driedonks and the city of Panguitch. For the first location, the city obtained several grants that helped restore the historic building that first housed the wildlife museum when it opened to the public.

The museum experienced a great amount of growth over the years and moved to its current location in Bryce Canyon within a massive 14,000 square foot building that boasts exhibits of more than 450 animals. A modern museum by all standards, it is one of the best wildlife museums in the West.

The Paunsaugunt Western Wildlife Museum is located on 250 East Center Street in Panguitch Utah and features wonderful exhibits, including art murals of nature scenes.
