Summer Activities
Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, provides the general public with an array of exciting activities during the summer months. Park recreation draws in millions of people annually, most of which come to enjoy the extensive hiking and other interesting forms of recreation. In fact, it is also the park's programs that lure in many people.
Besides hiking, other adventurous activities abound in Bryce Canyon National Park's (Utah) array of summer things to do. Millions of vacationers flock there every year to take in every opportunity to have some summer recreation that they can.
Most of the many programs offered are free. The Ranger Programs are typical of this. Every tiny morsel of knowledge, from animal habitats to why the hoodoos are red are offered by the volunteer rangers who support the program. Therefore it is not surprising that these clever keepers of the rocks can spark such wonder and imagination in all those they speak to.
Another program includes geology discussions, which are available mainly during the warmer months, high up on Sunset or Inspiration points. It consumes only half an hour, but is filled with detailed information about the hoodoos, wedges, and ancient lakes.
The Geological Hike lasts from the summer through the fall, starting at either Sunrise or Sunset points, with a two mile walk. A local park ranger leads everyone to the Bryce Amphitheater, through slotted canyon formations and emerges them in front of the massive hoodoos. Other equally popular programs include the varied family ones (great for kids), the evening campfire tales, astronomy and stargazing, and a moonlit hike.
