Sunrise Point
High up in beautiful Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah, Sunrise Point offers a great vantage to view varied parts of the park. Most visitors go there to view the amazing geological formations and partake in all its attractions. In fact, it has come to represent a pinnacle of perfection in the area.
Sunrise Point in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, sits atop the edge of a high plateau, glancing peacefully over the nearby cliffs, mesa and hoodoos. It is something that draws visitors in greater numbers, attractions so natural that they are hard to resist.
The Point has views of the Boat Mesa, the Sinking Ship, the Aquarius Plateau and the Pink Cliffs. Fairyland Canyon's hoodoos seem like rocky pins against the reddish hues and stark background.
Interestingly, the Point's pine trees are few, but rooted into the eroded rock, clambering on for sheer survival. They seem odd considering the soil content is so low. However, they offer a starting point on an adventure into a landscape that is ever-changing, ever rocked by continued earth changes.
Sunrise Point is called such because of its exquisite sunrises in the early mornings, which cast amazing light on the rocks and trails. The main trail is the Queen's Garden, which gradually descends hundreds of feet to the hoodoos and canyons below. The trail is popular with hikers, who use the trail as a means to connect to other park trails and loop back for a total distance of eight miles. There are shorter routes, that circle round passed Tower Bridge and return to the Point, a three mile trip, but it is a much harder track, and not for the faint of heart.
