What to Bring

Essentials //
Bryce Canyon is a beautiful area enjoyed by many. However, in order to ensure that you can fully enjoy your time here, it is important to come prepared. Proper preparation also helps follow proper Leave No Trace principles, helping to make sure that this unique area will be intact for our children and theirs.
Although Bryce Canyon does see higher temperatures, the high altitude (8,000+ feet above sea level) means that as the sun drops and night falls, temperatures drop considerably. This means that it is important to bring adequate clothing for both hot and cold temperatures. It is also important to bring enough water and food for your entire planned trip, plus some extra in case your day ends up being longer than expected. If you plan on hiking or canyoneering, a map and compass are always recommended. During many of the late summer and early fall months, "monsoon season" in Bryce, thunderstorms frequent the skies above the canyons, making proper rain gear a must-have. If visiting in the winter, be sure to bring skies or snowshoes in order to deal with the snow covering the ground, as well as plenty of warm layers.
