Panguitch Lake

Located in south central Utah, in the Dixie National Forest, Panguitch Lake is a gorgeous sanctuary nestled in the mountains and surrounded by lava flows and forest. Covering 1,250 acres at an elevation of 8,400 feet, it offers a wide variety of fun activities, including fishing and boating, so you'll never get bored.

The name Panguitch means "big fish," which is a fitting moniker for this natural lake, surrounded by lush trees including aspens, spruce, and ponderosa pines. Panguitch Lake represents the best of what Utah has to offer the visitor looking for an engaging and peaceful outdoor experience.

If you love fishing and boating, this lake is a dream destination with rainbow, brook, cutthroat, and brown trout abundantly available within the waters. Two public boat ramps allow for easy access to the lake for fishing excursions, and a fish cleaning station makes it possible to finish off the job without a hassle. You can even go ice fishing during the winter months.

For wildlife enthusiasts, look out for deer and elk romping around early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Go hiking, mountain biking, ATV riding, or enjoy a leisurely horseback ride. In the winter have fun on a snow mobile, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Fantastic lodging is also available in the area if you plan on staying for an extended period of time.

Access to Panguitch Lake is available year round – just take I-15 north to state route-9 and then go east through Zion. Take route US-89 north (left) into the city of Panguitch and then state route-143 southwest to the lake.
