Pine Lake
Another beautiful retreat located within the Dixie National Forest, Pine Lake is an oasis in the desert. Surrounded by dry and barren conditions, this lake is a destination you shouldn't pass up if you plan to visit Utah. For the fishing and boating devotee especially, Pine Lake is the perfect setting for fun and relaxation.
A smaller lake at only 77 surface acres, Pine Lake is one of Utah's little known gems. If you're the type of person who enjoys locations that are off the beaten track and have something unique to offer the visitor, this lake is definitely a destination you should try.
Pine Lake provides wonderful relief from the hot desert and arid conditions that surround it. Located within a basin at 7,500 feet, this cool lake is a refreshing break from the dry attractions popular in other parts of the Utah landscape.
Due to the lake's unique location, the visitor is privy to exceptional sights, including a large and diverse insect population, and an abundance of trout and holdover fish. If you plan to go on a fishing and boating trip to Pine Lake, expect to find rainbows, cutthroats, and brookies.
The Pine Lake Campground offers tent sites for trailers and motor homes up to a size of 45 feet in length. With a paved loop around the campground and graveled site spurs, access and mobility is relatively easy.
To get to Pine Lake, drive 13 miles east on Utah State Highway 12 from the junction at Highway 89. Go 11 miles north on John's Valley Road (#22), and east 6 miles on Clay Creek Road (#132).
