Tropic Reservoir

The Tropic Reservoir is a small but breathtaking lake in southern Utah near the East Fork of the Sevier River. The famous Paunsaugunt Trail begins here, leading hikers, bikers, and ATV enthusiasts through some of the most captivating natural views in the nation. Fishing, boating, and camping are just some of the activities people enjoy here.

The Tropic Reservoir in Utah attracts many visitors each year for its sheer beauty, amazing fishing, and great hiking. The trailhead for the incredible Paunsaugunt Trail begins at the Tropic, and if you want to spend more time right by the Reservoir, the King Creek Campground provides comfortable camping grounds.

King Creek Campground is located adjacent to the Tropic Reservoir and the Sevier River - reach the campground by way of a gravel road. The area has been recently updated and improved, with a new water system, flush restrooms, fire rings, grills, graveled spurs, and paved sidewalks.

Once you've settled comfortably into place at the campground, you can explore the area and take part in many great activities. Again, here you have access to ATV, hiking, and biking trails, as well as sightseeing, fishing, boating, and local wildlife.

If you plan on fishing in the Tropic Reservoir, small to medium-sized brown trout are abundant, and the flows are low and mostly clear.

To access the Reservoir, travel south from Panguitch on U.S. 89, and then head east on U-12 to Bryce Canyon Road. Follow the dirt road south along the East Fork of the Sevier River and the edge of Bryce Canyon National Park straight to the reservoir.
