Comprised mainly of ranching communities, the town is located on the picturesque highway 12 in the Bryce Canyon region in Utah. Tropic is sparsely populated with about 500 people residing here. There are several fascinating landmarks nearby and excursions to these exotic areas can be an elating experience.
The Grand Escalante Staircase, the Dixie National Forest and the Kodachrome Basin State Park are all in the close proximity of Tropic in UT. From Tropic you can hike to the Bryce Canyon National Park also. There are two trails from the town that goes to the Bryce Canyon region and they are the When in Tropic, Tropic Trail and the Mosse Cave trails.
do visit the Grosvenor Arch and drive down the unpaved Cottonwood Canyon Road. Tourists can also hike their way to explore intriguing features like the Willis Creek, Round Valley Draw or the Bull Valley Gorge in the Grand Escalante Staircase Area. Or you may want to hire a mountain bike and go biking to the Powell Point in the Dixie National Park.
Anther great way to spend some quality time here is by trout fishing at the nearby Pine Lake. Would you like to see some ancient fossils? If yes, then you should head to the Tropic Shale.
There are a few good restaurants, gift shops, grocery stores and visitor centers from where you can gather information on the various trails and places of interest. Hiking, biking, fishing, horse riding and camping activities can be organized from Tropic. Hire a guide who will take you to some of the spellbinding wild trails.
