Rules & Regulations
Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah, is a federally owned park that caters to tourists and other pleasure seekers throughout the year. With so many rare and precious sites to protect, as well as maintaining the safety of all those who use the park, there are some important rule and regulations that need to be followed.
Camping:
- Camping overnight requires a permit, which can be obtained through the Visitor's center at the park's entrance.
- Camping is only allowed on the designated campgrounds and use of these have to comply with basic common sense safety and fire rules.
- Camp trailers have to remain on the campsites and are not allowed into the backcountry for any reason.
Garbage and Waste:
The dumping of garbage is strictly prohibited, as is the desecration of federal buildings or park wonders. Fines can be very steep.
Wildlife:
Please do not feed any wildlife. If fed, animals like deer, bighorn sheep, coyotes and rock squirrels can become aggressive while begging for human food and have been known to bite.
Hiking:
Please stick to designated trails only while hiking
Biking:
Biking is legal and even encouraged. Biking is not allowed on park trails.
Hang gliding, Base-jumping, Paragliding:
Prohibited.
Enjoy but do not take:
Removal of any rocks, plants, artifacts or fossils is strictly prohibited.
Pets:
Pets must be leashed at all times while in the park. Pets are allowed in designated areas only.
Firearms:
Any type of firearms, including air pistols and rifles, bows and arrows, crossbows, slingshots and all fireworks are prohibited.
Vehicles:
Vehicles can only park in the parking lots provided and engines must never be kept running for long periods. The speed limit is 35 mph throughout the park.
