St. George Airport

Though the St. George Airport may be small, a sizable amount of flights arrive and depart from the welcoming airstrip. Being a little over 120 miles from Bryce Canyon National Park, it makes it a convenient destination to fly to. Located in southwestern Utah, St. George's red bluffs and lava rock formations make for a spectacular drive.

With Lake Mead to the southwest of the St. George Airport, Lake Powell to the east, Zion National Park, and Grand Canyon National Park, its central locale makes it a southwestern transportation hub.

St. George is at the lowest point in Utah, with an elevation below 3,000 feet, which makes the encircling mountains and red sandstone buttes all the more impressive. With its lower elevation, expect a tad bit warmer temperatures than in Bryce Canyon. High July temperatures average about 102 degrees Fahrenheit. While temperatures dip below freezing on winter nights, daytime weather is generally in the 50's.

Driving through St. George to Bryce Canyon will indeed be an enjoyable part of your trip. With the interesting geology providing a dazzling backdrop and the Virgin River meandering through, it's no wonder that it was the site for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid filming and will be for your vacation.
